If you ever watch the news, then you know Florida, the state I call home, is the location for a disproportionate amount of weird stories.  We’re talking bizarre stuff:  alligators in people’s swimming pools, an airborne fish that attacked a teacher, a church that looks like a chicken, to name a few.

Yesterday I was reading the paper and saw this photo of an elephant on a Florida beach, one I’ve frequented myself many times.  You expect to see sea gulls, random fish and even the occasional dolphin at the beach in Florida, but an elephant?!

Yes, that’s exactly what you think it is – an elephant in the ocean.  It’s a Florida thing.

Evidently, the sunbathing pachyderm was cooling off with his trainer nearby before heading over to a private birthday party to perform.  Crazy, but what’s even more odd is that the local city commission approved the request for a beach permit for the elephant. But that’s Florida for you.

What does this have to do with today’s featured property?  Not all that much, except that if you have a fondness for strange happenings or sunshine, either one will do, then this is the state for you.  And I have just the Florida property for you to consider.

Riva in Fort Lauderdale

Riva will be a 15-story riverfront tower set on two acres.  It will overlook the Middle River and the downtown skyline of Ft. Lauderdale.

The Riva water taxi will be a private residents’ boat service to take people across the river for tennis in the park, lunch at the nearby Galleria Mall or a sunset cruise.

The River Club

Riva will have generous indoor and outdoor amenity areas.  The entire fourth floor will be a 40,000 square foot River Club.

A 2,500 sq. ft. club room will include a cocktail lounge and private party room.

It will feature glass-walled, air-conditioned facilities surrounded by a wrap-around outdoor deck with river, ocean and city views.  Additionally, it will encompass the following components:  7,000 sq. ft. fully-equipped, water view fitness center

  • 2,500 sq. ft. club room, cocktail lounge and private party room
  • 1,500 sq. ft. “cucina,” a grand kitchen to accommodate 20 friends
  • Borghese Spa with treatment rooms and famed Italian spa product line
  • Private wine lockers
  • A full-size 65-foot lap pool overlooking the river
  • Cabanas and ocean-view lounging with splash pools
  • Sunset garden, a lushly landscaped hideaway for romantic evenings
  • Dog walk, a specially-built sequestered walkway
  • Riva will also have 24-your security and a 24-hour attended reception desk

Condo Features

The condos at Riva will have private elevator access and 9-foot ceilings.  They’ll be spacious with open-concept designs.

The exceptionally large and livable outdoor terraces will offer both sunrise and sunset views.  They’ll have summer kitchens with built-in grills.

Inside, the kitchens will come with Sub-Zero/Wolf premium appliance packages with gas cooktops.  Stone counters and imported Italian-design cabinetry will complete the look.

Ft. Lauderdale Has Much to Offer

The location of Riva on the Middle River is across from George English Park, a 20-acre park and tennis center.  It is just north of Sunrise Blvd. and the Galleria Mall, and only one mile from the beach.

Fort Lauderdale has a vibrant cultural and arts district, galleries, fine arts museums and performing arts venues showcasing stellar performances of music, dance and drama. Shopping and entertainment opportunities also abound.  There’s the million square foot Sawgrass Mall Outlet as well as many upscale boutiques, restaurants, lounges, movie theaters.

The famed Las Olas Boulevard, where you can dine, shop or people-watch at the weekend Jazz-fest is also a popular destination.  Also nearby is gambling at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.  However, the area’s biggest attraction is its 23 miles of golden beaches with exceptional deep sea fishing, yachting, snorkeling and diving.

Riva is less than 15 minutes to the Ft. Lauderdale International Airport and Port Everglades, one of the top three cruise ship ports in the world.

Numerous Floor Plans

With only 100 residences planned, the individual condos at Riva will be spacious.  Choose from 10 different model plans of two and three bedrooms, ranging in size from 1,538 to 2,523 square feet.  The penthouse units are two stories and have four bedrooms spread amid their 4,200 square feet.  Prices range from $585,000 on up to $2,500,000 for a penthouse.

Wild, Wacky Florida
