The Development’s Interesting History
The world-famous architectural group, Arquitectonica, was responsible for the exterior architecture of the whole property, including the renovation of the 1950’s landmark Carillon Hotel. The hotel has been restored to its celebrated status to become the centerpiece of Canyon Ranch Miami Beach.
Construction on Canyon Ranch Living Miami Beach began in the summer 2005. The three towers of Canyon Ranch were built in stages. The South Tower was completed in 2007. The North Tower and the Central Tower, (formerly, the 1957-built, landmark Carillon Hotel) were completed in 2008.
The condos in the North Tower were sold out at over $1,000 sq. ft. in pre-construction. However, by the time it was ready to close, the real estate market had collapsed, and many people walked away from their purchase. Many units were taken back by the developer, WSG Development Co. of Miami Beach. WSG Development eventually lost the property to the lender, Lehman Brothers. Then came a period of limbo while owners evaluated their situation.
New Pricing, New Opportunity
For the past two years, the new owners have made little effort to market the unsold condos. But recently, they have adjusted their thinking and their pricing, which means an exciting opportunity for anyone who would love to own a spectacular oceanfront Miami Beach home and live the Canyon Ranch lifestyle.
Prices are currently 35%-50% less than their original pricing back in 2005. I’m sure you’ll agree, that’s an impressive reduction well worthy of serious consideration.
