Luxurious, Spacious Condos in Miami’s MiMo District

I recently read a news story about one of Miami’s more expensive homes going on the market. Listed at $67 million, it’s a three-story home owned by auto dealer Alan Potamkin.
The name is familiar to me, as it is to many native Floridians, because I can remember my dad buying his ’76 Chevy Impala at Potamkin Chevrolet in Miami, which later became 65 Potamkin auto franchises around the U.S.
The Potamkin home on the water measures 20,800 square feet and includes nine bedrooms, an art gallery, a glass-walled aviary with 35 birds, two built-in saltwater aquariums, a 1,500-bottle wine room, an elevator and three fireplaces for the two days per year when temps in Miami dip below 70°. Brrrr!
While it’s interesting to read about $67 million dollar homes like the Potamkin’s on the market, it’s out of reach for most folks like you and me.
Fortunately, there are plenty of other appealing choices that aren’t as extravagant but still offer plenty of upscale amenities and services along with South Florida’s year-round beautiful weather. The property I have for you today is no Potamkin mansion, but I think you’ll find its more “modest” offerings still mighty impressive. Read on for details.
Boulevard 57 will be a $100 million mixed-use project on Miami’s upper east side. An eight-story mid-rise, it will combine luxury residences with upscale commercial and retail space.
It will contain 105 condos with views of the city skyline and also Biscayne Bay from select residences. The commercial and retail space will span 45,000 square feet on the ground level.
An elegant porte-cochere with an original Manolo Valdés sculpture will welcome guests to Boulevard 57. They will enter into a dramatic two-story lobby.
The building’s amenities will include:

- Outdoor grill and bar with seating area on pool deck

Additionally, Boulevard 57 will offer its residents integrated digital concierge services and 24-hour valet parking, security and doormen.

The individual condos of Boulevard 57 will have contemporary floor plans.
They’ll be open concept, many with flow-through layouts. They’ll also have the following features:

- Floor-to-ceiling glass windows

- Summer kitchens in select residences

The MiMo District
Boulevard 57 is located in the historic MiMo District in Miami’s upper east side. MiMo, which stands forMiami Modernist, is a regional style of architecture that developed in South Florida during the post-war period.
The MiMo District is undergoing a retro-revival with a wave of redevelopment that spans 27 blocks. It is carving out its own distinct identity as a stylish but unflashy Main Street characterized by faithful restorations of its MiMo, Deco and Mediterranean Revival buildings.
Amid the restorations is also new construction that includes condo developments like Boulevard 57 and many restaurants and shops. As someone who’s lived in South Florida for almost five decades, I can tell you what’s going on in the MiMo area is reminiscent of what South Beach did with its Art Deco architecture and revitalization to become one of the country’s hottest vacation spots.
The MiMo District is conveniently located, which makes it easy to get from Boulevard 57 to any of the following destinations:

- American Airlines Arena / 15 minutes

Groundbreaking of Boulevard 57 is scheduled for summer 2016. Construction will take approximately two years and should be complete by summer 2018.
The developers are taking reservations now with 10% deposits, to be followed by another 10% due at contract in March 2016.
The condos come with one to four bedrooms and range in size from 1,123 sq. ft. to 4,622 sq. ft. Prices range from $640,000 to$2,650,464, not including the price on penthouse units, which has not yet been announced.

Something for Everyone
Boulevard 57 is certainly more affordable than the Potamkin mansion I told you about earlier. And there are plenty of other condo developments with both lower and higher price tags.
