MICHAEL DEZER
The name of Michael Dezer is synonymous with the spirit
of community and achievement. Born and raised in Tel
Aviv Israel, Michael Dezer immigrated to the United
States in 1962 after having served in the Israeli
Air Force.
In 1970 Michael Dezer founded Dezer
Properties Company, a now prominent New York City
commercial Real Estate Company. His vision in identifying
Chelsea, as an up and coming district in New York
City before other developers, gave him the ability
to create a portfolio of the choicest properties there.
Dezer became instrumental in the positioning
of the New Chelsea Image taking it from
a failing fur and manufacturing district to a hub
of fashion, creative resources, multinational company
headquarters and offices and desirable loft style
living spaces.
The Dezer vision has uplifted the
Chelsea area into one of the chicest in the city,
as well as being the first developer in New York City
to convert factory buildings into luxury office cooperatives.
Today the Dezer Properties Company
portfolio boasts holdings which include 20 commercial
buildings, 8 Commercial coops and 1 luxury residential
loft condominium, ranging from a 9-story, 50 foot
wide building to a 19-story building with over 120,000
square feet. The Dezer Properties of New Yorks
portfolio is the largest of its kind in Chelsea and
currently encompasses more than 1.3 million square
feet of rental space.
In 1985, Dezer began to purchase oceanfront
property in the Miami area. Today he owns the well-known
Dezerland Hotel in Miami Beach Florida, which is situated
on over two oceanfront acres, and his holdings in
the City of Sunny Isles Beach represent a significant
portion of the oceanfront real estate.
Included in his Sunny Isles Beach,
Florida portfolio are six hotel properties that overall
represent over 25 oceanfront acres and 2000 linear
feet of beachfront. In addition to the aforementioned
holdings, Mr. Dezer also retains the development rights
to additional properties in Sunny Isles Beach that
represent over 30 oceanfront acres.
Together with his son Gil, Dezer is
currently the developer of The Trump Grande Ocean
Resort and Residences, an 11-acre oceanfront enclave
that will be home to the Trump International Sonesta
Beach Resort, a 32-story luxury condominium hotel
(scheduled for completion, October 2002), and two
47-story luxury condominium residence towers, the
Trump Palace (scheduled for completion, December 2003)
and Trump Royale. (scheduled for completion, April
2004).
Michael Dezer has been a long time
supporter of Shmuel Ha Rofe Hospital in Beer Yaakov,
Israel. The hospital specializes in geriatric care
and Dezer has sponsored various programs within the
hospital. Mr. Dezer is also a strong supporter of
WIZO. Through his upbringing in Tel Aviv he identifies
very strongly with WIZOs work. Dezer has supported
the WIZO NY chapter for young families by being a
member and donating the use of Dezerland New York-
a 60,000 square foot indoor amusement and event facility,
which is part of his New York holdings.
Michael Dezer is married to his wife
Neomi for 36 years and resides in Bal Harbour, Florida.
The Dezers have 3 children.
