CityCenter Fast Facts

The Hottest Development on the Las Vegas Strip

CityCenter is an immense resort currently under construction in Las Vegas. Located on the Las Vegas Strip, it promises to change the area's landscape and serve as a draw for millions of visitors from around the world.

Spanning 66 acres, CityCenter will be its own urban metropolis complete with a skyline of seven towers with upscale residences and hotel rooms, high-end shopping venues, gourmet restaurants, movie theaters, parks and pedestrian environments.

Here is a summary of the facts regarding CityCenter, Las Vegas' most exciting development:

Total project cost - Estimated at $7 billion, making CityCenter the largest privately financed development in the U.S.

Development size - 66 acres

Amount of Strip frontage - ¼ mile

Location - Between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo hotels on site of the now imploded Boardwalk Hotel and Casino

Design Style - Contemporary urban design

Environmental Commitment - Seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council by satisfying some of the most demanding energy and environmental guidelines in existence today.

Employment Expectations - Will employ approximately 7,000 people in the design and construction process. Will employ 12,000 people in permanent positions when complete

Architects - Eight different companies working on the various CityCenter buildings: Foster and Partners, Gensler, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, Helmut Jahn, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Rockwell Group, RV Architecture, Studio Daniel Libeskind

Builders - Perini Building Company and Tishman Construction

Total Number of Buildings - 40 to 50 when complete. Tallest will be tower 600 feet over the Strip

Hotel/Resort Tower - 60 stories, 4,000 room hotel, designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects

Casino - 250,000 sq. ft. designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects

Hotel/Condos - 1) The Residences at Mandarin Oriental designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, 400 hotel rooms and 227 condo residences (no rental component)

Hotel/Condos - 2) The Harmon Hotel & Residences designed by Foster and Partners, 400 hotel rooms and 228 condo residences (no rental component)

Residences - Veer Towers designed by Helmut Jahn, pair of 36-story towers, total of 702 loft-style condo residences (no rental component)

Condo Hotel - Vdara, (pictured right) the only condo hotel in CityCenter, designed by RV Architecture, a 50-story tower with 1,543 condo hotel units

Retail & Entertainment - 500,000 sq. ft. stores and various entertainment venues, designed by Studio Daniel Libeskind

Convention Space - 225,000 sq. ft. of convention and meeting space

Theater - 2,000 seat theater

Spa - 70,000 sq. ft. full-service, brand-name spa

Parking - 7,500 car garage

Transportation - People mover transportation system

Power - On-site power plant

Construction Began - April 2006

Construction Completion - First phases of CityCenter will open in late 2009. Entire project scheduled to open in 2010.
