Comparison
of The Cosmopolitan Resort &
Casino to The Conrad Majestic, Las Vegas
Condo Hotels
Q:
I'm interested in a condo hotel unit on the Las Vegas
Strip. How would you compare The Cosmopolitan Resort
& Casino to The Conrad Majestic?
A:
The Cosmopolitan
is a large mega-resort. It will have 2,400 rooms with
casino, convention, retail and all the glitz and glamour
of what people think about when they imagine the neon
lights of Las Vegas.
The Conrad
Majestic is a boutique condo hotel
of 558 units, at the other end of the Strip, and does
not have a Casino. It will be a five-star resort because
it is small enough to become one. This means, extra
staff, faster service and higher room rates.
Q:
In your expert opinion, would you choose The Cosmopolitan
or The Conrad Majestic?
A:
As with any condo hotel purchase, the answer really
has to do with personal preference. Ask yourself the
following five questions, and I think you'll be able
to make the best choice for yourself.
- Do you prefer glitz and excitement
(The Cosmopolitan) or something more subdued and
refined (The Conrad Majestic)?
- Do you want a casino in your hotel
(The Cosmopolitan) or would you prefer to go to
a casino elsewhere and avoid the excitement and
hub-bub when you're ready to turn in for the night
(The Conrad Majestic)?
- Do you prefer being a small fish
in a big pond (The Cosmopolitan which will have
2,200 condo hotel units and hotel suites total),
or do you want that special kind of service of a
five-star hotel where people remember your name
and white-gloved attendants hold the door for you
(The Conrad Majestic which will have 558 condo hotel
units and hotel suites total)?
- For the money, do you want more
things to see and do such as a casino, retail shops
and numerous restaurants (The Cosmopolitan) or more
livable space (The Conrad Majestic)? For the price
of a 600 sq. ft. studio at the Cosmopolitan, you
can get an 860+ sq. ft. one-bedroom suite at the
Conrad.
- How important is it to be able
to choose the floor and the view of your unit? The
Cosmopolitan's selection is somewhat limited as
more than 1,300 of the 1,400 units that were made
available have already been reserved thanks to a
tremendous nationwide advertising campaign, long
before their grand opening in late February 2005.
At the Conrad Majestic, on the
other hand, only about 30% of the property is
sold so far, so your selection of available inventory
is much greater. The
Conrad Majestic's advertising campaign has only
just begun.
